Accessibility isn't an afterthought at Victorian Respite, it's the reason we exist. We aim to make our accommodation, our services, and our website usable and welcoming for everyone, however that looks for you.
Our commitment
Victorian Respite is committed to providing a service that is accessible, dignified, and inclusive for people with disabilities and their families. This applies to our accommodation, our communications, and the digital experience of using this website.
We are an ally of the disability and LGBTIQA+ communities. We design our services around the individual, not around assumptions about what people with disabilities or chronic illness should accept.
Accessibility in our accommodation
Every partner hotel we work with is screened for accessibility before we offer stays there. We tailor each booking to the individual guest, including:
- Step-free access and room layouts suited to mobility needs
- Accessible bathrooms with appropriate fittings
- Assistive equipment, hoist availability, and bed configurations
- Dietary, medical, and cultural food requirements
- Sensory considerations, lighting, noise, environmental comfort
- Coordination with visiting support workers, therapists, or healthcare providers
- Companion-friendly arrangements for family members or carers
If you have specific requirements not listed here, please raise them in your enquiry. We'll work with you to confirm what's possible at each partner property.
Accessibility on this website
We aim for this site to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. In practice that means:
- Semantic HTML structure for screen readers and assistive technology
- Sufficient colour contrast for body text and key interface elements
- Keyboard navigation across all interactive elements
- Resizable text without loss of content or function
- Descriptive link text and form labels
- Reduced motion respected for users who prefer it
We recognise the web is constantly evolving and accessibility is an ongoing practice, not a one-time tick. If you encounter any barriers using this site, please tell us so we can fix them.
Tell us how we're doing
Your feedback shapes how we work. If something about our service, our accommodation, or this website isn't accessible to you, or could be better, please get in touch.
Email enquiries@victorianrespite.com.au. We'll respond within one business day, and we'll act on what you tell us.
